Quran quotes about forgiveness (Maghfirah) — Allah's mercy, repentance, and starting fresh.
وَمَن تابَ وَعَمِلَ صٰلِحًا فَإِنَّهُ يَتوبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ مَتابًا٧١
And he who repents and does righteousness does indeed turn to Allah with [accepted] repentance
۞ مُنيبينَ إِلَيهِ وَاتَّقوهُ وَأَقيمُوا الصَّلوٰةَ وَلا تَكونوا مِنَ المُشرِكينَ٣١
[Adhere to it], turning in repentance to Him, and fear Him and establish prayer and do not be of those who associate others with Allah
لِيَجزِىَ اللَّهُ الصّٰدِقينَ بِصِدقِهِم وَيُعَذِّبَ المُنٰفِقينَ إِن شاءَ أَو يَتوبَ عَلَيهِم ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كانَ غَفورًا رَحيمًا٢٤
That Allah may reward the truthful for their truth and punish the hypocrites if He wills or accept their repentance. Indeed, Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful
وَأَنيبوا إِلىٰ رَبِّكُم وَأَسلِموا لَهُ مِن قَبلِ أَن يَأتِيَكُمُ العَذابُ ثُمَّ لا تُنصَرونَ٥٤
And return [in repentance] to your Lord and submit to Him before the punishment comes upon you; then you will not be helped
مَن خَشِىَ الرَّحمٰنَ بِالغَيبِ وَجاءَ بِقَلبٍ مُنيبٍ٣٣
Who feared the Most Merciful unseen and came with a heart returning [in repentance]
إِنَّمَا التَّوبَةُ عَلَى اللَّهِ لِلَّذينَ يَعمَلونَ السّوءَ بِجَهٰلَةٍ ثُمَّ يَتوبونَ مِن قَريبٍ فَأُولٰئِكَ يَتوبُ اللَّهُ عَلَيهِم ۗ وَكانَ اللَّهُ عَليمًا حَكيمًا١٧
The repentance accepted by Allah is only for those who do wrong in ignorance [or carelessness] and then repent soon after. It is those to whom Allah will turn in forgiveness, and Allah is ever Knowing and Wise
وَما أَرسَلنا مِن رَسولٍ إِلّا لِيُطاعَ بِإِذنِ اللَّهِ ۚ وَلَو أَنَّهُم إِذ ظَلَموا أَنفُسَهُم جاءوكَ فَاستَغفَرُوا اللَّهَ وَاستَغفَرَ لَهُمُ الرَّسولُ لَوَجَدُوا اللَّهَ تَوّابًا رَحيمًا٦٤
And We did not send any messenger except to be obeyed by permission of Allah. And if, when they wronged themselves, they had come to you, [O Muhammad], and asked forgiveness of Allah and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah Accepting of repentance and Merciful
رَبَّنا وَاجعَلنا مُسلِمَينِ لَكَ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِنا أُمَّةً مُسلِمَةً لَكَ وَأَرِنا مَناسِكَنا وَتُب عَلَينا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ التَّوّابُ الرَّحيمُ١٢٨
Our Lord, and make us Muslims [in submission] to You and from our descendants a Muslim nation [in submission] to You. And show us our rites and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful
إِلَّا الَّذينَ تابوا وَأَصلَحوا وَبَيَّنوا فَأُولٰئِكَ أَتوبُ عَلَيهِم ۚ وَأَنَا التَّوّابُ الرَّحيمُ١٦٠
Except for those who repent and correct themselves and make evident [what they concealed]. Those - I will accept their repentance, and I am the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful
وَالَّذانِ يَأتِيٰنِها مِنكُم فَـٔاذوهُما ۖ فَإِن تابا وَأَصلَحا فَأَعرِضوا عَنهُما ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كانَ تَوّابًا رَحيمًا١٦
And the two who commit it among you, dishonor them both. But if they repent and correct themselves, leave them alone. Indeed, Allah is ever Accepting of repentance and Merciful
