وَإِذا غَشِيَهُم مَوجٌ كَالظُّلَلِ دَعَوُا اللَّهَ مُخلِصينَ لَهُ الدّينَ فَلَمّا نَجّىٰهُم إِلَى البَرِّ فَمِنهُم مُقتَصِدٌ ۚ وَما يَجحَدُ بِـٔايٰتِنا إِلّا كُلُّ خَتّارٍ كَفورٍ٣٢
And when waves come over them like canopies, they supplicate Allah, sincere to Him in religion. But when He delivers them to the land, there are [some] of them who are moderate [in faith]. And none rejects Our signs except everyone treacherous and ungrateful
وَيَستَجيبُ الَّذينَ ءامَنوا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ وَيَزيدُهُم مِن فَضلِهِ ۚ وَالكٰفِرونَ لَهُم عَذابٌ شَديدٌ٢٦
And He answers [the supplication of] those who have believed and done righteous deeds and increases [for] them from His bounty. But the disbelievers will have a severe punishment
فَاستَجَبنا لَهُ وَوَهَبنا لَهُ يَحيىٰ وَأَصلَحنا لَهُ زَوجَهُ ۚ إِنَّهُم كانوا يُسٰرِعونَ فِى الخَيرٰتِ وَيَدعونَنا رَغَبًا وَرَهَبًا ۖ وَكانوا لَنا خٰشِعينَ٩٠
So We responded to him, and We gave to him John, and amended for him his wife. Indeed, they used to hasten to good deeds and supplicate Us in hope and fear, and they were to Us humbly submissive
قُلِ ادعُوا اللَّهَ أَوِ ادعُوا الرَّحمٰنَ ۖ أَيًّا ما تَدعوا فَلَهُ الأَسماءُ الحُسنىٰ ۚ وَلا تَجهَر بِصَلاتِكَ وَلا تُخافِت بِها وَابتَغِ بَينَ ذٰلِكَ سَبيلًا١١٠
Say, "Call upon Allah or call upon the Most Merciful. Whichever [name] you call - to Him belong the best names." And do not recite [too] loudly in your prayer or [too] quietly but seek between that an [intermediate] way
هُوَ الَّذى يُسَيِّرُكُم فِى البَرِّ وَالبَحرِ ۖ حَتّىٰ إِذا كُنتُم فِى الفُلكِ وَجَرَينَ بِهِم بِريحٍ طَيِّبَةٍ وَفَرِحوا بِها جاءَتها ريحٌ عاصِفٌ وَجاءَهُمُ المَوجُ مِن كُلِّ مَكانٍ وَظَنّوا أَنَّهُم أُحيطَ بِهِم ۙ دَعَوُا اللَّهَ مُخلِصينَ لَهُ الدّينَ لَئِن أَنجَيتَنا مِن هٰذِهِ لَنَكونَنَّ مِنَ الشّٰكِرينَ٢٢
It is He who enables you to travel on land and sea until, when you are in ships and they sail with them by a good wind and they rejoice therein, there comes a storm wind and the waves come upon them from everywhere and they assume that they are surrounded, supplicating Allah, sincere to Him in religion, "If You should save us from this, we will surely be among the thankful
وَلَمّا سُقِطَ فى أَيديهِم وَرَأَوا أَنَّهُم قَد ضَلّوا قالوا لَئِن لَم يَرحَمنا رَبُّنا وَيَغفِر لَنا لَنَكونَنَّ مِنَ الخٰسِرينَ١٤٩
And when regret overcame them and they saw that they had gone astray, they said, "If our Lord does not have mercy upon us and forgive us, we will surely be among the losers
فَادعُوا اللَّهَ مُخلِصينَ لَهُ الدّينَ وَلَو كَرِهَ الكٰفِرونَ١٤
So invoke Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, although the disbelievers dislike it
سَلٰمٌ عَلَيكُم بِما صَبَرتُم ۚ فَنِعمَ عُقبَى الدّارِ٢٤
Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured. And excellent is the final home
الَّذينَ صَبَروا وَعَلىٰ رَبِّهِم يَتَوَكَّلونَ٤٢
[They are] those who endured patiently and upon their Lord relied
أُولٰئِكَ يُجزَونَ الغُرفَةَ بِما صَبَروا وَيُلَقَّونَ فيها تَحِيَّةً وَسَلٰمًا٧٥
Those will be awarded the Chamber for what they patiently endured, and they will be received therein with greetings and [words of] peace
