إِنّا ءامَنّا بِرَبِّنا لِيَغفِرَ لَنا خَطٰيٰنا وَما أَكرَهتَنا عَلَيهِ مِنَ السِّحرِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ خَيرٌ وَأَبقىٰ٧٣
Indeed, we have believed in our Lord that He may forgive us our sins and what you compelled us [to do] of magic. And Allah is better and more enduring
إِنّا نَطمَعُ أَن يَغفِرَ لَنا رَبُّنا خَطٰيٰنا أَن كُنّا أَوَّلَ المُؤمِنينَ٥١
Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers
وَالَّذى أَطمَعُ أَن يَغفِرَ لى خَطيـَٔتى يَومَ الدّينِ٨٢
And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense
وَاجعَل لى لِسانَ صِدقٍ فِى الءاخِرينَ٨٤
And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations
فَإِذا رَكِبوا فِى الفُلكِ دَعَوُا اللَّهَ مُخلِصينَ لَهُ الدّينَ فَلَمّا نَجّىٰهُم إِلَى البَرِّ إِذا هُم يُشرِكونَ٦٥
And when they board a ship, they supplicate Allah, sincere to Him in religion. But when He delivers them to the land, at once they associate others with Him
تَتَجافىٰ جُنوبُهُم عَنِ المَضاجِعِ يَدعونَ رَبَّهُم خَوفًا وَطَمَعًا وَمِمّا رَزَقنٰهُم يُنفِقونَ١٦
They arise from [their] beds; they supplicate their Lord in fear and aspiration, and from what We have provided them, they spend
لا يَسـَٔمُ الإِنسٰنُ مِن دُعاءِ الخَيرِ وَإِن مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ فَيَـٔوسٌ قَنوطٌ٤٩
Man is not weary of supplication for good [things], but if evil touches him, he is hopeless and despairing
وَإِذا أَنعَمنا عَلَى الإِنسٰنِ أَعرَضَ وَنَـٔا بِجانِبِهِ وَإِذا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ فَذو دُعاءٍ عَريضٍ٥١
And when We bestow favor upon man, he turns away and distances himself; but when evil touches him, then he is full of extensive supplication
رَبَّنا لا تَجعَلنا فِتنَةً لِلَّذينَ كَفَروا وَاغفِر لَنا رَبَّنا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ العَزيزُ الحَكيمُ٥
Our Lord, make us not [objects of] torment for the disbelievers and forgive us, our Lord. Indeed, it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise
عَسىٰ رَبُّنا أَن يُبدِلَنا خَيرًا مِنها إِنّا إِلىٰ رَبِّنا رٰغِبونَ٣٢
Perhaps our Lord will substitute for us [one] better than it. Indeed, we are toward our Lord desirous
