الَّذينَ اتَّخَذوا دينَهُم لَهوًا وَلَعِبًا وَغَرَّتهُمُ الحَيوٰةُ الدُّنيا ۚ فَاليَومَ نَنسىٰهُم كَما نَسوا لِقاءَ يَومِهِم هٰذا وَما كانوا بِـٔايٰتِنا يَجحَدونَ٥١
Who took their religion as distraction and amusement and whom the worldly life deluded." So today We will forget them just as they forgot the meeting of this Day of theirs and for having rejected Our verses
أَوَلَم يَنظُروا فى مَلَكوتِ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضِ وَما خَلَقَ اللَّهُ مِن شَيءٍ وَأَن عَسىٰ أَن يَكونَ قَدِ اقتَرَبَ أَجَلُهُم ۖ فَبِأَىِّ حَديثٍ بَعدَهُ يُؤمِنونَ١٨٥
Do they not look into the realm of the heavens and the earth and everything that Allah has created and [think] that perhaps their appointed time has come near? So in what statement hereafter will they believe
فَلَمّا أَنجىٰهُم إِذا هُم يَبغونَ فِى الأَرضِ بِغَيرِ الحَقِّ ۗ يٰأَيُّهَا النّاسُ إِنَّما بَغيُكُم عَلىٰ أَنفُسِكُم ۖ مَتٰعَ الحَيوٰةِ الدُّنيا ۖ ثُمَّ إِلَينا مَرجِعُكُم فَنُنَبِّئُكُم بِما كُنتُم تَعمَلونَ٢٣
But when He saves them, at once they commit injustice upon the earth without right. O mankind, your injustice is only against yourselves, [being merely] the enjoyment of worldly life. Then to Us is your return, and We will inform you of what you used to do
وَما أَرسَلنا مِن قَبلِكَ إِلّا رِجالًا نوحى إِلَيهِم مِن أَهلِ القُرىٰ ۗ أَفَلَم يَسيروا فِى الأَرضِ فَيَنظُروا كَيفَ كانَ عٰقِبَةُ الَّذينَ مِن قَبلِهِم ۗ وَلَدارُ الءاخِرَةِ خَيرٌ لِلَّذينَ اتَّقَوا ۗ أَفَلا تَعقِلونَ١٠٩
And We sent not before you [as messengers] except men to whom We revealed from among the people of cities. So have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? And the home of the Hereafter is best for those who fear Allah; then will you not reason
اللَّهُ الَّذى خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضَ وَأَنزَلَ مِنَ السَّماءِ ماءً فَأَخرَجَ بِهِ مِنَ الثَّمَرٰتِ رِزقًا لَكُم ۖ وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ الفُلكَ لِتَجرِىَ فِى البَحرِ بِأَمرِهِ ۖ وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ الأَنهٰرَ٣٢
It is Allah who created the heavens and the earth and sent down rain from the sky and produced thereby some fruits as provision for you and subjected for you the ships to sail through the sea by His command and subjected for you the rivers
وَضَرَبَ اللَّهُ مَثَلًا قَريَةً كانَت ءامِنَةً مُطمَئِنَّةً يَأتيها رِزقُها رَغَدًا مِن كُلِّ مَكانٍ فَكَفَرَت بِأَنعُمِ اللَّهِ فَأَذٰقَهَا اللَّهُ لِباسَ الجوعِ وَالخَوفِ بِما كانوا يَصنَعونَ١١٢
And Allah presents an example: a city which was safe and secure, its provision coming to it in abundance from every location, but it denied the favors of Allah. So Allah made it taste the envelopment of hunger and fear for what they had been doing
وَاصبِر نَفسَكَ مَعَ الَّذينَ يَدعونَ رَبَّهُم بِالغَدوٰةِ وَالعَشِىِّ يُريدونَ وَجهَهُ ۖ وَلا تَعدُ عَيناكَ عَنهُم تُريدُ زينَةَ الحَيوٰةِ الدُّنيا ۖ وَلا تُطِع مَن أَغفَلنا قَلبَهُ عَن ذِكرِنا وَاتَّبَعَ هَوىٰهُ وَكانَ أَمرُهُ فُرُطًا٢٨
And keep yourself patient [by being] with those who call upon their Lord in the morning and the evening, seeking His countenance. And let not your eyes pass beyond them, desiring adornments of the worldly life, and do not obey one whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance and who follows his desire and whose affair is ever [in] neglect
وَاضرِب لَهُم مَثَلَ الحَيوٰةِ الدُّنيا كَماءٍ أَنزَلنٰهُ مِنَ السَّماءِ فَاختَلَطَ بِهِ نَباتُ الأَرضِ فَأَصبَحَ هَشيمًا تَذروهُ الرِّيٰحُ ۗ وَكانَ اللَّهُ عَلىٰ كُلِّ شَيءٍ مُقتَدِرًا٤٥
And present to them the example of the life of this world, [its being] like rain which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it and [then] it becomes dry remnants, scattered by the winds. And Allah is ever, over all things, Perfect in Ability
قالَ اهبِطا مِنها جَميعًا ۖ بَعضُكُم لِبَعضٍ عَدُوٌّ ۖ فَإِمّا يَأتِيَنَّكُم مِنّى هُدًى فَمَنِ اتَّبَعَ هُداىَ فَلا يَضِلُّ وَلا يَشقىٰ١٢٣
[Allah] said, "Descend from Paradise - all, [your descendants] being enemies to one another. And if there should come to you guidance from Me - then whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray [in the world] nor suffer [in the Hereafter]
فَأَذاقَهُمُ اللَّهُ الخِزىَ فِى الحَيوٰةِ الدُّنيا ۖ وَلَعَذابُ الءاخِرَةِ أَكبَرُ ۚ لَو كانوا يَعلَمونَ٢٦
So Allah made them taste disgrace in worldly life. But the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew
